KATHMANDU,
The Nepal-America International Film Festival 2022 will be held both physically and virtually in Maryland, the USA, from June 23 to 26.
According to the organizer of the festival ‘Nepal America Film Society’, in the festival which will be organized for four days, 38 films from around 12 countries including Nepal and America will be screened at the festival.
Gearing up for fifth edition of NAIFF 2022
The festival will be inaugurated along with the movie screening of the film ‘Halkara’ directed by Bikram Sapkota at Greenbelt Theater. Similarly, the festival will close after screening the documentary ‘Brick Mule’ by Michael Brown and short film ‘The Lip Readers’ by Eric Spink at the same Theater.
Apart from the physical screening of the movies, during the festival, audiences could view the movie screening from their smartphones, i-pads, computers, laptops and smart televisions through eventive apps. Like in the previous years, two films will be screened in collaboration with the Global Peace Film Festival and DMV (D, Maryland, and Virginia) will be screened to encourage local filmmakers.
In addition, a program will be organized for the audience and filmmakers-directors along with actors starring in the screened film to discuss their respective films. Virtual discussions will also be held with Abinash Bikram Shah and Surakshya Panta, who attended the Cannes Film Festival this year. Similarly, the best movies selected for the competition will be awarded.
The awards will be announced by the seven judges that include; Anup Subedi from Nepal, Rebecca Bustamante from America. Likewise, the jury members will be Nina Streich, Bhavani Rao, Deborah Jones, Farid Bozorgmehr and Portia Cobe.
This festival has been organized every year by the non–profit organization Nepal America Film Society since 2017 AD.
