Nepal Army begins rescue and search operation in Annapurna region ( with photos)

POKHARA, Jan 22: Nepal Army has started rescue and search operation in Annapurna region where four South Koreans and three Nepali have gone missing since last week.

POKHARA, Jan 22: Nepal Army has started rescue and search operation in Annapurna region where four South Koreans and three Nepali have gone missing since last week.


A nine-member Nepal Army team led by Colonel Amit Gurung of Nepal Army landed in Annapurna region on Tuesday with helicopter. This is the first Nepal Army team deployed in the area after an avalanche hit the region.

Nepal Army personnel are digging the snow to find the bodies. 


Incessant snow fall in the avalanche-hit area has made the rescue operation more challenging. 


According to the chief of Western Division of Nepal Army Gokul Bandari, Nepal Army has been mobilized in the avalanche-hit area on Wednesday.
