Nepal bags four gold medals in Chemnitz Open Karate Championship

KATHMANDU, Oct 4: Nepal has clinched four gold and two bronze medals at the Chemnitz Open Karate Championship held in Germany. Nepal's Mandey Kazi Shrestha won two gold medals. He won gold in male senior single kata and in a competition in the above 30 years age group. Shrestha had also bagged two gold medals in the 13th South Asian Games (SAG).

He won gold in male senior single kata and in a competition in the above 30 years age group. Shrestha had also bagged two gold medals in the 13th South Asian Games (SAG).


Similarly, Mukunda Maharjan bagged a gold medal in the above 30 years age group and a bronze medal in the Kumate event of males under 75 kg weight group in the Chemnitz Open Karate Championship.

Likewise, Suman Timilsina won a gold medal in a competition among his age group and a bronze medal in the male senior single kata event, said Swachchham Gurung, the Nepali team's manager.


Among other nations, Nepal, Germany, Poland, Austria, Azerbaijan, Iran, the Netherlands, Spain and Belgium participated in the Championship.
