Nepal: Daily COVID-19 case count crosses 3,000 mark again after five months

KATHMANDU, Jan 12: Nepal recorded 3,075 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday along with 278 recoveries and two deaths on Wednesday, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

KATHMANDU, Jan 12: Nepal recorded 3,075 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday along with 278 recoveries and two deaths on Wednesday, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP). The last time the daily COVID-19 case count crossed the 3000 mark was in August 2021.


As many as 13,036 samples were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 2,448 PCR tests and 627 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the deadly virus. So far, 11,609 people have died of COVID-19 in Nepal.

There are currently 11,799 active cases of the virus across the country. Of them, 10,810 are in home isolation, 880 in institutional isolation, 87 in ICUs, and 22 on ventilators. 


On the same day, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 1,538 new cases of COVID-19. Of them, 1,168 were recorded in Kathmandu, 236 in Lalitpur, and 134 in Bhaktapur districts.
