Nepal, India draw 1-1 in first int'l friendly

KATHMANDU, September 2: Nepal drew 1-1 against India in the first of the two international friendlies held at Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu on Thursday evening.


Anjan Bista scored a goal in the 37th minute of the first half for Nepal. He was able to give Nepal the lead by grabbing the ball passed by the Indian defender to his goalkeeper.

India was unable to produce much substance even after the goal and Nepal was even able to push India hard towards the end. India did not have a single shot on target in the first half.


However, India's substitute player Aniruddha Thapa was able to score an equalizer goal in the 60th minute for India. There were no goals from both the sides in the remaining 30 minutes of the game.


The second friendly against Nepal will be held on September 5. The friendlies are in preparation for the SAFF Championships, which will be held in Maldives from October 3 to 13.
