Nepal-India bilateral meeting on PTA begins today

KATHMANDU, Feb 13: Nepal-India Joint Working Group (JWG) and Joint Steering Committee (JSC) meetings are beginning in Kathmandu from Monday.

KATHMANDU, Feb 13: Nepal-India Joint Working Group (JWG) and Joint Steering Committee (JSC) meetings are beginning in Kathmandu from Monday. 



The two-day bilateral meeting on implementation of Power Trade Agreement (PTA) is expected to discuss on ways to bring three recently completed transmission line projects -- Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur, Raxaul-Parwanipur and Kataiya-Kushaha -- into operation. 



Likewise, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of New Butwal-Gorakhpur Transmission Line will be discussed in the two-day meetings. Expediting works of Arun III and Upper Karnali hydropower projects is the other agenda of the meeting, according to the energy ministry officials. 



Joint Secretary of Ministry of Energy, Dinesh Kumar Ghimire, will co-chair the JWG meeting, while Energy Secretary Anup Kumar Upadhyay will co-chair the JSC meeting.
