Nepal-India poetry recitation held in Kathmandu

Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center, Embassy of India, Kathmandu, and Rashtriya Sahitya Pratisthan jointly organized a Nepal-India poetry recitation program in Kathmandu on May 24, Tuesday.

Dr Tulasi Prasad Bhattarai, a senior writer in Nepal attended the program as the chief guest. Similarly, Naveen Kumar, First Secretary of the Indian Embassy, and Swetha Dipti, former Head of Department of Hindi Department at Tribhuvan University, among others were present at the event. Rishav Dev Ghimire, president of the Pratisthan, was the chairman of the program which was hosted by Ranjana Niraula, poet and secretary of the Pratisthan.



During the event, Rashtriya Sahitya Pratisthan awarded 'National Literary Honor' to Naresh Shandilya, a renowned Indian poet, and was offered a shawl as a mark of respect.    He was also given a letter of appreciation. Sakhi Pratishthan, a sister organization of Rashtriya Sahitya Pratisthan, also honored poet Shandilya.


On the occasion, Shandilya recited doha and ghazals. He spoke about Doha writing and discussed the importance of writing and recitation of ghazals. Speaking at the event, chief guest Bhattarai said that such honors would deepen literary and cultural ties between Nepal and India. Poems in Nepali, Hindi, Urdu, English and Bengali languages were recited.


Rajendra Shalabh, Sneha Sayami, President of Urdu Foundation Imtiyaz Wafa, Dr. Momin Khan, Kunjana Jha, Madhu Kumari, Dr. Gyan Nishtha Gyawali, Thakur Belvase, Pabitra Adhikari, Umesh Awasthi, Ranju Dahal, Poonam Jha, Priyamwada Kafle, Dr. Binod Kumar Bishwakarma, Dr. Basudev Kafle, Tribhuvan, Chandra Wagle, Suman Barsha and Rashmi Bhatta recited their compositions. 


On the occasion, the singers of Rashtriya Naachghar, Bipin Ghimire and Shila Bista Ali, sang Nepali and Hindi songs.
