Nepal Mountain Academy to start ski training for promotion of winter tourism

ITAHARI, Dec 3: Nepal Mountain Academy (NMA), the government-run academic institution under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, is gearing up to produce 28 skiers. The skill-based Himalayan adventurers will be produced from two different training programs, according to the NMA.

KATHMANDU, Dec 3: Nepal Mountain Academy (NMA), the government-run academic institution under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, is gearing up to produce 28 skiers. The skill-based Himalayan adventurers will be produced from two different training programs, according to the NMA. 


The first category of the training will be for 20 participants for a week which is titled 'Ski Level-1 Training'. Likewise, an 11-day-long training will be for eight potential participants which is titled as 'Ski Level-2 Training'. For the Ski Level-2 training, participants must have accomplished the Ski Level-1 training.

A notice of the training was made public on Thursday and the deadline is set for December 16. Training fees for both categories is Rs 5,000. The participants have to bear their own expenses for travel, accommodation and other related insurance packages. 


''This is our sixth-batch enrollment for both categories'', said Uttam Babu Bhattarai, the director and also the spokesperson for the NMA, ''We are afoot to promote winter tourism in our Himalayan regions and skiing is an indispensable part of it.'' 


Bhattarai said it is their first priority to produce more and more skilled skiers to promote this neglected part of Nepal's tourism world and Himalayan adventures.
