Nepal records highest single-day spike in cases since relaxation of lockdown

KATHMANDU, August 10: Nepal recorded 4,904 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday along with 2,115 recoveries and 35 deaths.

KATHMANDU, August 10: Nepal recorded 4,904 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday along with 2,115 recoveries and 35 deaths.


According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 13,217 PCR tests and 5,906 antigen tests were conducted on Tuesday. Of them, 3,194 PCR tests and 1,710 antigen tests turned out to be positive for COVID-19.

There are currently 36,269 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Of them, 33,985 are in home isolation, 3,347 in institutional isolation, 761 in ICUs and 176 on ventilators as of Tuesday afternoon.


Likewise, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 1,186 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. Of them, 795 were detected in Kathmandu, 152 in Bhaktapur and 239 in Lalitpur districts.
