KATHMANDU, Dec 22: In 2024, as many as 20,000 Nepalis will receive work opportunities in Romania

Kewal Prasad Bhandari, Secretary of the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, has announced that 20,000 Nepalis will be granted the opportunity to work in Romania in the year 2024. This decision comes following the bilateral labor agreement signed between Nepal and Romania in Asoj (mid-September to mid-October).

During a program held in Kathmandu on Thursday, Secretary Bhandari emphasized that the allocation of 20,000 visas for the year 2024 has been approved. He cited a lack of communication among Nepali workers and challenges in employment as motivating factors behind this decision.

Romania, being an appealing and secure destination for Nepali workers with significant potential in the labor market, signed a labor agreement with Nepal after 55 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In addressing the workers' social security concerns, the labor agreement ensures that migrant workers in Romania can avail themselves of social security benefits akin to Romanian citizens. The government asserts that this agreement will prove advantageous for many Nepalis seeking employment opportunities.
