Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll surpasses 100-mark

KATHMANDU, Aug 15: With three more COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours, Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll stands at 102 on Saturday.

KATHMANDU, Aug 15: With three more COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours, Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll stands at 102 on Saturday.


According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), a person each from Kapilvastu, Parsa and Dhanusa succumbed to COVID-19.


Dr Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the MoHP, said that a man, 40 year old, from Mayadevi-7, Kapilvastu, died of COVID-19 at Lumbini Provincial Hospital today.

Similarly, an elderly -60 years old - from Birgunj Metropolitan City, Parsa, also died of COVID-19 on Aug 14 while undergoing treatment at Narayani Hospital.


In yet another death case, a man - 50 years old - from Janak Nandini Rural Municipality-4, Dhanusha died of COVID-19 on Aug 13.  


So far, eight people in Province 1 and 46 in Province 2, 17 in Bagmati Province, six in Gandaki Province, 13 in Province 5, four in Karnali Province and eight in Sudurpaschim Province have succumbed to COVID-19.


Of the 102 people who died of COVID-19 in Nepal, 80 are males and 22 are females.
