KATHMANDU, Oct 13: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal has issued a statement expressing its attention to the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Gunji, a disputed border area in Kalapani region in Darchula on Thursday morning.
Joint Secretary Sewa Lamsal, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, shared that they are actively seeking information on the matter.

She emphasized the importance of adhering to established protocols when a country's Prime Minister visits another nation. Lamsal remarked, "When the Prime Minister of one country visits another, proper protocol should be followed, and we are striving to better understand the details of this situation."
The topic of Modi's visit to Gunji, a region situated in disputed Kalapani region in the western Nepal, was also raised by lawmakers in the federal parliament.
Indian Prime Minister Modi, who arrived in the Kalapani region by helicopter on Thursday morning, visited Adikailash and Parvatikunda, engaging with local residents of Pithoragarh and Gunji in India.
It is important to note that the area he visited is located on the Nepal-India border. The regions such as Limpiyadhura, Kalapani, Gunji, Nabi, Kuti, and other parts of the Lipulekh region are included in the revised political map released by the government in May 2020.
