Nepal’s Samip Aryal tops Facebook's White Hat Hall of Fame for uncovering major flaw

KATHMANDU, Feb 25: Nepal's Samip Aryal has been ranked first for discovering a security vulnerability in the social network, Facebook.


Meta, the parent organization of Facebook, has recognized Aryal as its top cybersecurity expert. Aryal shared this achievement on his Facebook.

Aryal discovered a security flaw that could potentially allow someone to take over a Facebook account with just one click. Following this discovery, Meta placed him at the top of the White Hat Hall of Fame on Friday.


In 2023, Aryal was also recognized, ranking 27th in the White Hat Hall of Fame for uncovering security vulnerabilities in Facebook.


Similarly, two other Nepalis, Bistrit Dahal and Sant Bahadur Gharti Magar, have been ranked 7th and 9th, respectively, for their contributions to cybersecurity.
