Nepal should be re-declared as Hindu state: Dr Shashank Koirala

KATHMANDU, Oct 4: General Secretary of Nepali Congress (NC) Dr Shashank Koirala has said that it is the right time to re-declare Nepal as Hindu state. He suggested that there should be the provision of a Hindu state with freedom of religion.

KATHMANDU, Oct 4: General Secretary of Nepali Congress (NC) Dr Shashank Koirala has said that it is the right time to re-declare Nepal as Hindu state. He suggested that there should be the provision of a Hindu state with freedom of religion.


Speaking at a program organized by Democrat Professors’ Association Nepal (DEPAN) to launch the journal Lokadrishti and on the occasion of upcoming festivals, general secretary Koirala said that the agenda of Hindu state should be the national agenda citing it as the demand of the people.

In another context, Dr Koirala said that the current government is involved in anti-federalism activities. He accused the government of allocating only 40 percent budget to the provincial government. He urged the government to change the current way of working.


Speaking about the party, Dr Koirala blamed the internal conflict and split in the party for the loss in the election.  He called the party leaders and activists to unite for the next election and urged the party leadership to be serious while amending the statute of the party for the betterment of the party and country as a whole.
