KATHMANDU, Feb 19: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Wednesday said that the government has encountered multiple hurdles in bringing drastic changes to the country's economic development.


Addressing a special event organized to observe the 70th National Democracy Day in Tudikhel in the capital, PM Oli grumbled that the government has been experiencing obstruction although it has made unremitting efforts to cultivate democracy with economic prosperity and social justice at the people level.


He, however, stated that the government will give answer to the questions raised by various quarters over its performance in a due course through its effective delivery.

“The government is all committed to enforcing rule of law and ensuring peace and democracy in the country,” said he adding that the government has considered the first two years since it took the office as the years for creating the foundation.


He went on to say that the government will further expedite the development activities based on the experiences it gained in these two years.


On the occasion, he also assured that Nepal will graduate it to the league of developing nations by 2022 from the Least Developed status and meet all the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).


“The government is focused on socio-economic transformation with a goal of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’ for which the government expects cooperation from our friendly nations."


PM Oli also took time to state that the list of tasks to be done by the government is long and will be gradually accomplished in due course. Mentioning that the government is trying to introduce a completely different state mechanism, he admitted that it is a real challenge to adopt a new system. According to him, meeting the aspirations of the people in a short period is another challenge of the present times for the government. “However, it is common to have confronted challenges in course of institutionalizing the changed political system and achieving prosperity.”


Speaking further, he underscored the necessity of contributing to prosperity in the country as it has already completed a perennial political transition. He urged one and all to join hands with the government for the sake of country's sound economic development.
