KATHMANDU, Sept 5: KATHMANDU, Sept 5: Nepal's national women's football team defeated Bangladesh's national women's team 2-1 in their first friendly match played at Dashrath stadium in Kathmandu on Thursday.
While Sabita Rana scored the first goal on behalf of the Nepal team in the 14th minute, Priti Rai scored another goal in the 22nd minute of the match, paving the way for the easy win for Nepal.
Nepal beats Bangladesh 3-1 in Int'l Friendly Football Match
Despite an impressive performance throughout the match, Bangladesh team could not score any goal till the end. It was Tohura Khatun, who scored a goal for Bangladesh on 83rd minute of the game.
Both teams will play their second match on Sunday. Earlier, the Nepali women’s football team had played friendly matches against Qatar, Kuwait and Malaysia.
Nepal is playing against Bangladesh women's national team as part of the selection match for AFC Women Asian Cup-2022 to be held in Uzbekistan. Under the Asian Cup selection round, Nepal belongs to group 'F'. Hong Kong and the Philippines are also in the same group.
All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has said that Nepal is playing against the Philippines on September 18 and with Hong Kong on September 21. The top team in the group will be qualified to participate in the Asian Cup to be held in India next year. The Nepali women’s football team has been trained by Gary Philips.
