Nepal wins first ODI series at home ground

KATHMANDU, Nov 18: Ashif Sheikh and Gyanendra Malla scored half centuries as Nepal defeated the UAE by six wickets in the title decider on Friday to lift the One-Day International Series for the first time at home ground.


Nepal, who were defeated by 84 runs in the first match of the series at the Tribhuvan University Ground last Monday, won the second match on Wednesday by three wickets with 13 balls remaining.

Friday’s victory saw Nepal win  a one-day international series at home ground for the first time.


Batting first, the UAE posted a total of 176 runs in 50 overs losing nine wickets. In response, Nepal achieved the target of 177 runs for victory by cruising to 180 runs in 40.1 overs at the cost of four wickets. Opener Ashif Sheikh and number three batsman Gyanendra Malla each contributed half centuries to help Nepal in the run chase in the third and decisive ODI match held at the Tribhuvan University Ground on Friday.
