Nepali artists participated in demonstration program in Lucknow

Various artists from Nepal have presented a demonstration organized by the College of Arts and Crafts, Faculty of Fine Arts at Lucknow University, India recently.

The artists from Nepal included Keshav Raj Khanal, Krishna Gopal Shrestha, Manoj Tamang Yonjan, Rick Gurung, Devendra Thumkeli, Ravi Mishra, Rabindra Manandhar, and Chandrashyam Dangol.

Talking about the contribution made by the 111-year-old college in the field of art, the dean and principal of the college Alok Kumar recalled that Nepali artists have studied from in the college and the relationship between Nepal and India was brought closer by art and culture, a press statement quoted him saying.


He also talked about the need to do everything possible to highlight the importance of art.

Similarly, in the program, Pokhara-based artist Manoj Tamang thanked the college for giving him the opportunity to share his experience with Indian artists while another artist Rick Gurung said that it is very important to discuss Nepali art style and tradition among college students.


Likewise, artist and Associate Professor Amit Kumar expressed the view that the traditional creativity of Nepali architecture is very beautiful and they are worth studying. It quoted him saying, “Architecture preserves civilization and culture," he said. “Its importance should be given special importance by all. Due to which we can pass on our culture and civilization to generations.”
