Nepali cricket off to Malaysia to play eastern regional tournament

KATHMANDU, June 30: A Nepali U-19 cricket squad left for Malaysia to play the ACC U-19 Eastern Region Cricket Tournament.

KATHMANDU, June 30: A Nepali U-19 cricket squad left for Malaysia to play the ACC U-19 Eastern Region Cricket Tournament.


The team comprising 14 members is captained by Rohit Kumar Poudel. Other members in the team are Rit Gautam, Pawan Sarraf, Bishal Bikram KC, Bhim Sarki, Kushal Malla, Rashid Khan, Sagar Dhakal, Hari Bahadur Chauhan, Pratish GC, Kamal Singh Aire, Khadak Bohara, Tilak Bhandari and Lokesh Bam.

Binod Das is the team coach while Raju Khadka takes the managerial responsibility and Bikram Neupane is the physio for the team. Nepal is in the group 'A' of the tournament and it will meet China for its opening match on July 3. China and Singapore are also in the group 'A'.


Though eight teams were scheduled to compete for the title earlier, Myanmar withdrew its participation in the eleventh hour. There are four teams--Bhutan, Hong Kong, Thailand and host country Malaysia-- in the group 'B'. The tournament will complete on July 10.
