Lamichhane has achieved the feat of taking 100 wickets in just 42 matches. Earlier this record was held by Afghanistan's Rashid Khan who had taken 100 wickets in 44 matches.

Similarly, Australia's Mitchell Starc took 100 wickets in 52 matches and Pakistan's Saqlain Mushtaq reached 100 wickets in 53 matches.

Celebrating his success, Lamicchane in his Facebook post said that records are meant to be broken.

“Records are meant to be broken and I'm proud to have achieved the title of the fastest 100 ODI wickets in the world! This feat wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering support of my family, supporters, teammates and coaches who have been my pillars of strength throughout my journey,” he wrote. “And, I want to give a special shoutout to myself for never losing faith in my abilities and for pushing myself beyond limits to achieve this milestone. It's a moment of immense pride and gratitude, and I'm excited to see what the future holds.”

Lamichhane made his ODI debut in 2018 against Netherlands. He took one wicket on his debut.
