KATHMANDU, Nov 25: A delegation of Nepal Police to the 87th General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) led by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sarbendra Khanal returned home on Saturday.
Other members of the delegation include DIG Neeraj Bahadur Shahi, chief of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) and SP Umesh Raj Joshi, officer in-charge of the National Central Bureau (NCB), Nepal.

The four-day assembly held in Dubai, UAE was able to elect Kim Jong Yang, former deputy president of Interpol as the new president of Interpol. The assembly also voted to admit Kiribati and Vanuatu as new member countries of the organization while rejecting Kosovo from membership. Following the decisions, the members of Interpol has now reached 194.
According to Nepal Police, Interpol General Secretary Jurgen Stock appreciated NCB, Nepal for the cooperation with Interpol. IGP Khanal said that General Secretary Stock openly praised Nepal for effective cooperation in solving international crimes.
During the general assembly, IGP Khanal also held bilateral meetings with the head of the National Police of China, Malaysia, and the UAE among other nations. SP Joshi told Republica that the venue for the 2020 General Assembly of Interpol has been selected as Uruguay. Chile had already been decided as the venue for the 2019 General Assembly.
AIG Puskar Karki, DIG Shailesh Thapa Kshetri and SSP Uttam Raj Subedi reached the Tribhuvan International Airport on Saturday to receive the delegation.
