Nepali documentary on earthquake impresses at int’l film festivals

KATHMANDU, Oct 18: ‘Bhagyale Bachekaharu’, a Nepali documentary featuring stories of the survivors of 2015 Nepal Earthquake has won an award under the best international documentary film category at the 2nd Shimla International Film Festival that was held earlier this month.

KATHMANDU, Oct 18: ‘Bhagyale Bachekaharu’, a Nepali documentary featuring stories of the survivors of 2015 Nepal Earthquake has won an award under the best international documentary film category at the 2nd Shimla International Film Festival that was held earlier this month. 


After its world premiere in last year’s Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF), the film, directed by journalist Ganesh Pandey, has been garnering acclaim at more than 65 international film festivals where it has received about a dozen awards.

“The film is representing Nepal globally and I hope the film has been successful in promoting the country,” said Pandey at the film’s recent screening organized by a Non Residential Nepali (NRN) group based in Hong Kong. 


The 55-minute long documentary is shot by Binod Bista and edited by Kumar Shah.
