Nepali envoys to China, India vow to strengthen economic ties

KATHMANDU, Nov 9: Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) held an interaction on Tuesday with newly appointed ambassador to India and China Deep Kumar Upadhyay and Leela Mani Poudyal, respectively.

KATHMANDU, Nov 9: Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) held an interaction on Tuesday with newly appointed ambassador to India and China Deep Kumar Upadhyay and Leela Mani Poudyal, respectively.



The interaction, held at the CNI office, discussed on ways to strengthen tie-up with China and India for economic development. Speaking at the interaction program, the newly appointed ambassadors vowed that whey will work to strengthen economic ties with the neighboring countries through diplomatic channel. 



Poudyal said that he will work to expand trade between Nepal and China. He further added that Nepali traders should take benefit of cheap Chinese capital and technology.



Similarly, newly appointed ambassador to India, Upadhyay, said that the embassy can help business community in facilitating their trade and business with the neighboring country.



"Traders and businessmen have the capacity to assess the risk, profit and scope of the business they do. However, we can work as facilitator if there is any problems and challenges for them while doing business," he added.



Hari Bhakta Sharma, president of CNI, said that proper planning should be made to boost export and reduce trade deficit with India. Sharma also complained about the delay by the Indian side in releasing merchandise and products from Kolkata port. Sharma also said that the Nepali ambassador should facilitate to bring the Visakhapatnam port into operation for Nepal's third country trade.



Similarly, he suggested the Nepali mission in China to attract Chinese investment, tourists and reduce trade deficit with the northern neighbor.
