Nepali eves to compete in Grand C'ship Qualifiers

KATHMANDU, Jan 5: Nepal national women volleyball team is all set to start closed camp training for Women World Grand Championship Qualifiers from Saturday in the capital.


The tournament to be organized by International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) under AVC Central Zone is scheduled to be held in Maldives from January 27 to 29.

According to Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA) President Manoranjan Raman Sharman the meeting of the Association held on Thursday took the decision to compete in the tournament.


The event will see participation of Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan and host Maldives. The winner of the Qualifiers will represent AVC Central Zone in Women's World Volleyball Championship.


 According to NVA President Sharma, volleyball chief coach Salina Shrestha has been nominated as the coach of the team while the assistant coach and manager are yet to be finalized. It will be the first time that Nepali women team will be competing in official tournament of the FIVB.
