KATHMANDU, Oct 12: Renowned striker Sabitra Bhandari, known as "Samba," representing the Nepali national women's football team and playing professional football in Israel, has made her safe return to Nepal.

Sabitra arrived back in Nepal from Israel on Wednesday night. At the Tribhuvan International Airport, she was warmly welcomed by Suresh Shah, the spokesperson for All Nepal Football Association.

This season, Sabitra joined the Israeli club Hapoel Raanana. Her journey to Israel is notable as she is the first Nepali player to compete in the European League under the European Football Federation banner, despite Nepal's location in Asia.

Sabitra's return to Nepal is prompted by the ongoing suspension of domestic and international sports events in Israel, a consequence of the conflict with Hamas. Unfortunately, the conflict has taken the lives of 10 Nepali nationals.
