SYDNEY, June 25 - Nepali Kala Sanskriti Tatha Sahitya Pratisthan ( NKSSP) Austraila organized an event at Happ Street Auburn , Sydney , Australia to offer tribute and express condolence to Late Amber Gurung. Amber Gurung, Known as the father of modern Nepali music, was a composer, singer and lyricist of Nepali music. He also composed music for Nepal's national anthem.
Amber dedicated his 78 years of life to Nepali Music and passed away on June 7, 2016 at Grande Hospital, Kathmandu, Nepal.
President Deuba extends tribute to late Gurung
NKSSP members and people from Sydney paid their tribute to Late Gurung and prayed for peace for the departed soul. NKSSP President Sujata KC Basnet elaborated on Late Gurung's contribution to Nepali music. NKSSP Advisor and Patron Bidur Dhungel remembered his closeness with the great musician. Dhungel, himself a singer and composer, is a student of Late Amber Gurung.
NKSSP General Secretary Rajeshwor Ghimire expressed his views on how the Nepali Diaspora can fallow his path to achieve and promote Nepali music and literature. Likewise, NKSSP member Jeena KC and Treasurer Prakirti Bhattarai delivered short speech about Late Gurung's dedication and extraordinary talent in music.
