NEW YORK, Sept 26: Nepathya, a popular Nepali folk band, performed at the Manhattan Center in New York on Saturday.
As the timer countdown ticked ‘4…3…2…1…0’, the stage got illuminated with blue lights synced with the guitar being played. As the guitar picked up, rest of the instruments joined in and background visuals started projecting images of mothers in various frames.
The performance began with a patriotic song, “Aama Santana haru kahan pugchhan

Nepathya then went on to play evergreen numbers Bhedako Oon Jasto, Chekyo Chekyo, Lampate Surati and Chari Maryo. After singing Jomsome Bazaarma, Amrit paused and asked if the audience had traveled to Jomsom. He then continued by singing Nepathya’s newly released songs Rama Rama and Koshiko Pani.
Likewise other songs played by the band were Timi Pani Nepali, Ma Pani Nepali … Hami Nepali, Resham, Taal ko pani.
The show ended with the closing number for the night – Rato Ra Chandra Surya.
Among the audience were people who traveled from Boston and Washington DC. Head of the Nepali delegate to the UN general Assembly Foreign Minister Dr. Prakash Saran Mahat and Nepal’s Ambassador to the US Mr. Arjun Karki also attended the show.
The band will perform in San Francisco on October 1.
