Nephew who poisoned his aunt and killed her arrested after 23 years

JANAKPURDHAM, Jan 30: A man has been arrested in Dhanusha on the charge that he was on the run after poisoning his aunt. The arrested person is 54-year-old Mohan Sah Kanu of Ward No. 6 of Kamala Municipality.

JANAKPURDHAM, Jan 30: A man has been arrested in Dhanusha on the charge that he was on the run after poisoning his aunt. The arrested person is 54-year-old Mohan Sah Kanu of Ward No. 6 of Kamala Municipality.


The police arrested him on Monday on the charge of killing his aunt Budhani Devi by poisoning her food about 23 years ago.

Dhanusha Police spokesperson and DSP Ranjan Awa said that Sah, who was on the run after the incident, was arrested by Dhanusha Police from Sakhuwamadan located in Kamala Municipality-6.


According to him, a team under the command of Police Sub Inspector Dasharath Prasad Yadav from the Singyahimdan Police Station arrested Sah from Sakhuwa Bazar on the basis of special information.


Shah killed his aunt on January 24, 2001 and dismembered her body. Budhni's husband, son and daughter-in-law involved in the incident are on the run. It is said that the police are also searching for them.


DSP Awa mentioned that Shah was arrested and kept in Area Police Office Khajuri and the court extended the remand for investigation in the case of murder.
