Nepse dips 23.16 points; daily turnover declines to Rs 1.253 million on Monday

KATHMANDU, Oct 16: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Monday plunged 23.16 points to close at 1,851.43 points.


The secondary market opened at 1,874.60 points and increased to the day’s high at 1,876.58 points in around six minutes of the trading. However, the market went downhill in the remaining trading hours to reach as low as 1,847.29 in the last five minutes. The market recovered two points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also lost 3.38 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 1.253 million from Rs 1.700 billion on Thursday. 


All the 13 trading groups had their market index dipped in the intraday trading.  Life insurance and hotels and tourism lost the highest three-digit mark of 207.91 points and 100.33 points, respectively.  


Among individual companies, the market values of 211 companies declined, while 22 companies posted gains in their indices.


Prabhu Bank Limited Promoter Share had a transaction of Rs 62.476 million and stood on top of the transaction volume. Sayapatri Hydropower Limited lost the highest of 10 percent in its market price. Similarly, Siddhartha Premier Insurance Limited registered as the biggest gainer by adding 7.87 percent of its market value.
