Nepse down with 12.58 points, while daily turnover falls to Rs 1.170 billion on Monday

KATHMANDU, Oct 9: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Monday declined 12.58 points to close at 1,908.66 points.


The secondary market opened at 1,921.24 points and went straight to the day’s low at 1,902.98 points in the first one and half hours of trading. The market then recovered and hit as high as 1,926.73 points in the next one hour. However, the market shed around 18 points in the remaining hours before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue-chip companies also declined 2.83 points. The daily turnover stood at Rs 1.170 billion, down from Rs 1.801 billion on Sunday. 


Trading, and manufacturing and processing groups had their indices increased by 13.89 points and 3.47 points, respectively. The remaining 12 groups were the losers. Life insurance and non-life insurance witnessed decline in their market index by 102.59 points and 81.51 points, respectively.  


Among individual companies, the market values of 158 companies declined, while 66 companies posted gains in their indices.


Nabil Bank, trading its shares worth Rs 35.145 million, led in terms of shares transaction amount. Barahi Hydropower Public Limited lost the highest of 10 percent of its market price. Similarly, Sayapatri Hydropower Limited was the highest gainer by adding 6.88 percent of its market value.
