KATHMANDU, May 9: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Monday increased by 12.27 points, a successive second day gain of double-digit points, to close at 2,268.84 points.
The market opened at 2,256.57 points and dropped to 2,256.50 points. However, the market escalated to a maximum of 2,289.27 points in the intraday trading before closing finally at 2,268.84 points.
Nepse sheds 9 points
Nine out of 13 trading groups witnessed an increase in average share prices. Life Insurance, hotels and tourism, development banks and investment groups were among the losers.
Along with a rise in the Nepse index, the turnover amount increased marginally from Rs 1.32 billion to Rs 1.39 billion. Among individual companies, Nepal Doorsanchar Company had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 78.35 million. While Jalpa Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha gained the largest percentage, Himalaya Urja Bikas Company was recorded as the highest loser.
