KATHMANDU, Oct 9: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Sunday gained 44.62 points to close at 1,898.38 points.
The secondary market posted a positive note on the first day after the public holiday for Dashain was over. The market opened at 1,853.76 points and went to an upward move throughout the trading hours.

Despite a double-digit gain in the index, the daily turnover amount stood at mere Rs 836.87 million. The low transaction volume shows that investors still have low confidence in the stock exchange market, according to the stockbrokers.
All the 13 trading groups gained in their average shares prices in the intraday trading. Life-insurance, development bank, non-life insurance, manufacturing and processing and microfinance gained three-digit points in their indices.
In the individual companies, promoter shares of Himalayan Everest Insurance Limited had the biggest turnover amount of Rs 226.98 million. Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd was the topmost gainer while Global IME Balanced Fund-I lost the largest percent of its market value.
