KATHMANDU, Sept 24: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) lost 71.42 points while investors lost Rs 102.61 billion out of shares transaction last week.
The secondary market opened at 1,910.38 points on Sunday and closed at 1,838.96 points on Thursday. The market index rose as high as 1,910.90, while it dropped as low as 1,833.72 points in the transaction period during the week. Overall, the market index lost 3.74 percent.

The market started on a negative note, with a fall of 33.97 on the first trading day. While there was a public holiday announced to mark the Constitutional Day on Monday, the market went down 38.81 points on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the market gained 11.19 points, followed by a decline of 9.83 points on Thursday. The daily turnover stood at mere Rs 721.25 million and Rs 655.70 million, respectively, in these two days of the review week.
The total turnover amount dropped 39.79 percent to Rs 4.20 billion. The average daily turnover amount also slipped to Rs 841.69 million from Rs 1.16 billion in the previous week. The market capitalization also fell to Rs 2.642 trillion from Rs 2.744 trillion.
Laxmi Bank Limited had the biggest transaction of its shares worth Rs 222.30 million. Asian Life Insurance Company was the top loser while Samling Power Company gained the highest percent of its share price.
