Nepse nosedives 31.52 points, daily turnover increases to Rs 1.550 billion on Thursday

KATHMANDU, Aug 24: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Thursday plunged 31.52 points to close at 2,013.93 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,045.45 points and went to the day’s high at 2,052.15 points in the first half an hour of trading. The market however went to a downward movement in the remaining trading hours and it hit the day’s low at 2,009.71 points in the last five minutes. The market recovered only four points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also lost 4.72 points. The daily turnover stood at Rs 1.550 billion, an increase from Rs 1.510 billion on Wednesday. 


All the 13 trading groups had their market values declined in the intraday trading. Non-life insurance index dropped 243.93 points, the highest, while life insurance and hotels and tourism index shed three-digit mark of 242.39 points and 101.34 points, respectively.


Among individual companies, the market values of 206 companies declined. On the other hand, only 17 companies registered the gainers.


Soaltee Hotel Limited, with turnover of Rs 78.795 million, topped in terms of transaction volume. Molung Hydropower Company Limited lost 8.54 percent in its market price and was recorded the top loser. Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower Limited gained the highest of 9.99 percent.
