KATHMANDU, Jan 29: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Sunday fell 14.68 points to close at 2,168.53 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,183.21 points and fell to the day’s low at 2,164.38 points. The index surged to as high as 2,192.77 points before shading around 24 points to close for the day.

On the first trading day of the week, the daily turnover increased to Rs 3.017 billion from Rs 2.86 billion on Thursday.
In the intraday trading, 161 companies lost in their market value whereas 48 companies were the gainers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies declined 2.83 points.
Only two trading groups—hotels and tourism and life insurance--out of the 13 gained in their market value. Of the losers, the development bank index plunged the highest of 61.35 points.
Among individual companies, IME General Insurance had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 99.90 million. Samriddhi Finance Company was registered as the top loser, while Lumbini General Insurance was the topmost gainer of the day.
