KATHMANDU, April 16: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Sunday dropped marginally by 2.80 points to close at 1,931.68 points.
The secondary market opened at 1,934.51 points and escalated to 1,944.63 points in the first few minutes of the trading. In the next half an hour, the market plunged to the day’s low at 1,919.95 points. In the remaining hours, the index fluctuated by a wide range before the market closed for the day.

Stockbrokers said the market failed to take pace despite banks reducing their interest rates. According to them, the investment has declined by a notable amount due to the surge in inflation and drop in people’s income of late.
Out of 13 trading groups, four including hotels and tourism, non-life insurance, life insurance and banking gained in their market values. Manufacturing and processing lost the highest of 25.21 points.
In the intraday trading, 139 listed companies were the losers, while 70 companies added value in their market prices. The sensitive index that measures the performance of the blue chip companies also slid 0.26 points.
The daily turnover stood at a mere Rs 974.59 million, almost half of Rs 1.65 billion on Thursday.
Among individual companies, Soaltee Hotel Limited carried out transactions of its shares worth Rs 38.90 million and was the topmost on the list. Asian Hydropower Limited lost the highest percentage of its market price, while Adarsha Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the highest gainer.
