Nepse slips 3.42 points; daily turnover increases to Rs 1.197 billion

KATHMANDU, Dec 4: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Monday declined 3.42 points to close at 1,847.81 points.


The secondary market opened at 1,851.23 points and fell to the day’s low of 1,843.84 points in the first 45 minutes of trading. The market then went into a series of fluctuations and hit the day’s high at 1,859.2 points in the next one and a half hours. The market lost around 13 points in the remaining period of the intraday trading.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also declined 1.22 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 1.197 billion from Rs 964.01 million on Sunday. 


Among the 13 trading groups, five including life insurance, non-life insurance, finance, development bank and mutual fund were successful in adding points in their indices. Manufacturing and processing lost the highest of 17 points. 


Among individual companies, the market values of 109 companies declined whereas 122 companies added in their indices.


Sonapur Minerals and Oil Limited had the largest trading of Rs 74.63 million. NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited declined 9.99 percent of its market value and was the highest loser. Samaj Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited with an additional 8.06 percent in its market price led the gainers’ segment.
