Nepse soars 16.49 points and daily turnover records Rs 1.87 billion on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, May 24: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday increased 16.49 points to close at 1,959.12 points.


The secondary market opened at 1,942.63 points and witnessed a huge fluctuation within the first hour of trading. The market index went to the day’s low at 1,928.75 points in the first 15 minutes while it hit the highest of 1,962.66 points during the period.

In the intraday trading, 131 listed companies added to their market prices, while 83 companies registered as losers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of the blue chip companies also inclined 3.58 points.


Hydropower, finance and mutual funds had their average market price down. Of the 10 gainers, manufacturing and processing, hotels and tourism, non-life insurance and life insurance added three-digit points in their indices. 


The daily turnover amount was recorded at Rs 1.87 billion, down from Rs 2.20 billion on Tuesday. For the past few days, the daily turnover amount has been registered above Rs 1 billion.


Among individual companies, Shivam Cements had the biggest transactions of its shares worth Rs 146.49 million. Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was registered as the topmost gainer while Sanima Equity Fund lost the highest percent of its market price.
