NEPSE soars 22.10 points; daily turnover declines to Rs 2.92 billion

KATHMANDU, March 10: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday increased by a notable 22.10 points to close at 2,052.65 points.


The market opened at 2,030.55 points and escalated to the day’s high at 2,061.2 points in the first two and a half hours of trading.  In the remaining hours, the index declined around nine points before the market closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies inclined 4.26 points. The daily turnover further declined to Rs 2.92 billion from Rs 3.19 billion on Thursday.


Hydropower was the only losing group that had its index declined 3.09 points. Among 12 gainers, life insurance added the highest of 185.76 points, while microfinance and non-life insurance also posted gains of three-digit points. 


Among individual companies, 194 were recorded as gainers whereas 46 were the losers.


Shivam Cements Ltd with transactions worth Rs 229.32 million led the segment of highest turnover. Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the top gainer, while Chirkhwa Hydropower Limited shed the highest of 7.06 points of its market price.
