NEPSE starts week with 17.30 points fall; daily turnover inclines to Rs 3.20 billion

KATHMANDU, March 31: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday decreased by 17.30 points to close at 2,018.33 points.


The market opened at 2,035.64 points and escalated to the day’s high at 2,040.33 points in the first 45 minutes.  The market then went down successively and fell to as low as 2,014.56 points before the last seven minutes of the trading hours. The market recovered around four points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies fell 2.51 points. The daily turnover inclined to Rs 3.20 billion from Rs 2.65 billion on Thursday.


Only non-life insurance added 13.13 points to its index. Of the 12 losers, manufacturing and processing, and life insurance lost 265.91 points and 102.05 points, respectively.


Among individual companies, only 63 were recorded as gainers whereas 172 were the losers.


Sarbottam Cement Limited had transactions of its shares worth Rs 286.89 million and led the segment of highest turnover. The company lost the highest of 9.99 percent of its market price, while Maya Khola Hydropower Company Limited was recorded as the topmost gainer.
