New Diamond, APF to vie for title

POKHARA, August 24: Defending champion Shivam New Diamond Academy and Armed Police Force (APF) are set to battle for the title of the ongoing 6th Red Bull National Women’s Volleyball Tournament.


The final between the tournament’s most successful team New Diamond and APF will be played on Thursday at Lamachaur, in Pokhara.

New Diamond has won this tournament for record five times while APF had lifted the title in the first edition the game. 


In the semifinal matches played at Indrarajya Laxmi Secondary School’s ground, Pokhara, on Wednesday, New Diamond defeated Western Region while APF saw off departmental rival Nepal Police Club (NPC). 


In the first semifinal of the day, New Diamond registered straight set wins of 25-16, 25-19, 25-17 over West. In the other semifinal, APF defeated NPC by 25-10, 25-21, 25-20. 


The champion of the tournament, which is being organized by Nawa Adarsha Samudayik Bikash Samaj, will get a purse of Rs 75,101 and the runner-up will get Rs 50,101.  Similarly, the third-placed team will bag Rs 20,101.
