New Diamond, Tribhuvan Army into semis

KATHMANDU, Feb 28: Two Nepali women’s volleyball heavyweights Shivam New Diamond Academy (NDA) and the departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) have entered into the semifinals of the ongoing fourth NST-NVA National Women’s and Men’s Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday giving the continuation to their winning streak.

KATHMANDU, Feb 28: Two Nepali women’s volleyball heavyweights Shivam New Diamond Academy (NDA) and the departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) have entered into the semifinals of the ongoing fourth NST-NVA National Women’s and Men’s Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday giving the continuation to their winning streak. 


At the National Sports Council (NSC)’s Covered Hall in Tripureshwar, NDA defeated Dhorpatan Sports Club in group ‘A’, while TAC beat Padmadaya Youth Club and reached the last four with still a game in hand. Earlier, on Monday, NDA saw off Padmodaya, and TAC had beaten Dhorpatan on Sunday. 


Now, the winner of the group will be finalized as NDA and TAC take on each other on Wednesday.

Likewise, Dhorpatan and Padmodaya will face each other on the same day which is only seen as a mere consolation match. 


On Tuesday, NDA beat Dhorpatan 25-6, 25-16, 25-15, while TAC defeated Dhorpatan 25-6, 25-16, 25-15. TAC overcame Padmodaya on straight sets of 25-10, 25-7, 25-13. 


In men’s category, Help Nepal Sports Club, the departmental teams Nepal Police Club (NPC), Armed Police Force (APF) and TAC have advanced into the quarterfinals. 


In the matches played on Tuesday, Help Nepal saw off Western Regional Volleyball Association 25-12, 25-23, 25-14 on straight sets, and NPC overcame Kavre District Volleyball Association 25-14, 25-14, 25-9. 


Likewise, APF beat Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Center 25-15, 25-12, 25-14 to book its place in the last eight of the tournament.
