New mother dies due to lack of timely treatment

PARSA, March 5: A new mother died in course of treatment at Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital, Birgunj Sunday morning. 

Chandra Jyoti, 20, wife of Jabahir Sah Turaha of Nagardaha VDC-4 in the district died hours after giving birth to a baby girl. Jabahir however blamed that his wife died due to negligence of health workers in the hospital. Chandra Jyoti had given birth to the daughter at around 1:00 am and was admitted to the hospital at 2:00 am after experiencing a complication. 

Relatives of Chandra Jyoti said, "Chandra Jyoti died for lack of treatment as health workers did not inform doctors even after she was in pain for two hours." 

Medical Superintendent of the Hospital Dr Chittaranjan Shah however said that Chandra Jyoti died due to excessive bleeding. She suffered from excessive bleeding while giving birth to the child at home and her condition was serious at the time she was admitted here, added Shah. 

The health condition of the newly-born baby is normal.RSS
