KATHMANDU, Oct 29: The newly-appointed chief executive officer of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), Yubaraj Bhusal has announced his plan to take at least 60 percent of the earthquake-hit families to new houses before next monsoon.
In his first interaction with donor agencies after assuming the post on Sunday, CEO Bhusal asked for cooperation to help materialize his plan. Bhusal said that since organizational and policy level preparations have already been made, his plan to shift 60 percent of the affected families to their new homes before next monsoon season is doable.
Now the government will build homes and sell them!
On the occasion, Bhusal asked the development partners to extend their support to provide technical manpower to help NRA to perform its works. He also clarified that the change in the NRA leadership will not have any effect on the momentum of the reconstruction body.
The former NRA CEO Gobinda Raj Pokharel, who recently tendered his resignation to contest the upcoming federal parliament election from Pyuthan district, was also present on the occasion. Representatives of various development partners supporting the NRA bid farewell to Pokharel.
Representatives of UNDP, European Union, JICA, DFID, the World Bank, China, India and UNOPS were among those present in the interaction. They assured their continued support to NRA even in the days ahead.
