New NT boss committed to enhance service quality

KATHMANDU, Sept 22: Newly appointed managing director of Nepal Telecom (NT), Kamini Rajbhandari, has said that her focus would be on enhancing services provided by the state-owned telecom operator. She is likely to assume office on Sunday.

KATHMANDU, Sept 22: Newly appointed managing director of Nepal Telecom (NT), Kamini Rajbhandari, has said that her focus would be on enhancing services provided by the state-owned telecom operator. She is likely to assume office on Sunday.



The cabinet meeting held on Thursday appointed Rajbhandari, who had been serving as head technician of the state-owned telecom operator, to the post. She will lead the largest public company in the country for three years. Rajbhandari is also the first woman to be appointed as the executive head of the NT.



Talking to Republica, Rajbhandari said that the appointment has made her more responsible.

Rajbhandari has been working with NT for the past three decades. She joined the state-owned operator as a senior technician in 1985. 



Born in Kathmandu, Rajbhandari completed her graduation in electronics and communications from Punjab University, India. She did here Masters in Business Communications from Asian Institute Of Technology, Bangkok.



A total of 13 applicants, including nine employees of NT, had submitted application for the post of managing director. Of them, six had been shortlisted for final round of selection.  The recommendation board had selected three names from the six shortlisted names and forwarded it to the cabinet for final selection.



The government had announced to appoint new managing director from open competition on July 9 when outgoing Managing Director Buddhi Prasad Acharya's two-year term was coming to an end.
