Hair Care
If you are thinking of changing your look for the summer, then a fresh new haircut might be just what you need. But it can be pretty challenging to decide on a style. The Week is here to help. We bring you some hairstyles that are currently in vogue and being sported by celebrities too.
For men
Pompadour
This hairdo is classy yet sexy and edgy. The side and back hair is shaved short, and if you are feeling particularly brave, then you could ask your hairdresser to go extremely short too. Not everyone should get this hairstyle but it suits people with round faces as it adds height and takes the focus away from the width of the face. A typical pompadour is swept upwards and backwards. However, as it is much hyped, it has become versatile and now you can style it in different ways make it suit your face shape, lifestyle, and do it up for more professional look. The exceptionally sexy haircut is worn by many of the modern day celebrities and artists, and the list extends from David Beckham and Justin Bieber to Zac Efron, and our very own Ayushman Deshraj.

Crew cut
Named after Ivy League crew teams who wanted to keep hair out of their faces, the crew cut is one of the simplest men’s haircuts, with buzzed short sides and a slightly longer guard on the top. It’s a timeless look that will never go out of style. It’s easy to maintain and ideal for the hot summer months. If you have thin or unruly hair, then you might want to consider this style as well. The only thing you will want to keep in mind with a buzz or crew cut is sunscreen. The shorter the hair, the more you will need it when you are headed outdoors, and if you’ve ever had a burn on your scalp, you know it’s definitely worth protecting. Popular celebrities with this hair cut are Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Tom Hiddleston.
Long ‘man bun’ and beard
Men with long hair can rejoice because wild and rough look is back in fashion. To get the look, you need the right hair length and the patience to maintain it. The styling of a man bun is surprisingly easy. All you need to do is to grab all the hair that you want to be tied into a bun and loop it along itself. You first pass an elastic band along the length of the to-be-tied hair and then you pass the band again through the length of the hair but, this time, you stop halfway through the length and choke the hair with the band, any hair that is left dangling is then looped around the bun so as to keep all the hair neatly in place. This man bun pairs attractively with long beard. Celebrities like Hozier, Ranveer Singh, Jason Momoa sport this look.
For Women
Bob cut
Bob haircuts are classic, stylish, and versatile. Not only are they consistently in trend, but they transition perfectly from season to season, adopt slight changes with the greatest of ease, and can be styled in a variety of ways. Best of all, there is a type of bob to suit every face shape. The bob hairstyle is a notable exception, as it can be updated to suit a current trend or worn simply for a classic finish. A classic bob is a haircut in which the hair is typically cut straight around the head at about jaw-level, often with a fringe or bangs at the front. This cute hairdo is perfect for round and oval shaped faces. An angled bob, which is usually blunt and cut above the shoulders, is slightly longer at the jaw and shorter at the back and this will look good on any face shape. An inverted bob is a trendier version of the cut. The back is tapered and stacked while the front is longer with more fullness on top. Curled or flipped out, the bob can look quite elegant for a night out.
The lobs
The lengthier version of bob cut, called ‘the lobs’, is chic, stylish, and has plenty of versatility. Lobs are fun. They are just long enough for you to be able to opt for different kinds of hairstyles even after you have chopped your hair. When it comes to styling your lob, soft beach-y waves are to go for, so tong your hair after drying and let it cool before brushing out the curls for natural looking wavy hair. Adding curls will also shorten your lob by an inch or so, so it’s great for maintaining that perfect lob haircut length in between trims. Soft waves are also the most modern take on the lob haircut trend. To give your curls and waves a more natural, disheveled vibe, brush out your locks and then spike your hair throughout with a texturizing spray like salt spray and rub your hands through it to add extra volume.
Layered hair cut
This hair trend never goes out of style and is a safe option to go for. It can be layered according to your preference. High-layered hair cut is taking more layers from the top that makes a fuller and a fluffy crown, and thinner and longer layers in the ends. This is best suited for long oval and slender face type. The low layers are where the layers start from your shoulder length and then continue to your ends. This suits any face type as it makes the hair look voluminous and flow-y. It adds a rich texture to the hair and looks great when styled and managed on a day-to-day basis. It is a go-to haircut if you want your hair to be split ends free or if you just want a simple, hassle free style.
Poker face sleek and straight
This style gives you an intense look. The partition in the middle with straight sleek hair makes you look like you have been professionally styled. The look is easy enough to achieve on your own though. To get this look, first comb off all the knots and tackle the frizz with some serum, then blow dry your hair with a flat round brush and then run a flat iron over the mid lengths and ends to get a crisp look. You can play around with the look by changing where you choose to part your hair. This style is best suited for heart-shaped and square-shaped faces. Celebrities with this hair-do are Mila Kunis, Sandra Bullock, and Khloe Kardashian.
