Nine security personnel including PSO of NCP leader Madhav Nepal test positive for COVID-19

KATHMANDU, Aug 22: Nine security personnel deployed for the security of former Prime Minister and ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) leader Madhav Kumar Nepal have tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

KATHMANDU, Aug 22: Nine security personnel deployed for the security of former Prime Minister and ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) leader Madhav Kumar Nepal have tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).


According to Nepal’s Personal Secretary Mohan Gautam,  the security personnel who have tested positive include his Protective Service Officer (PSO), the driver of his escort vehicle and the Armed Police Force (APF) personnel deployed for his security. However, leader Nepal and his family members have tested negative for the virus.

Swab samples of all members of his family and the security personnel deployed for his security were collected last Thursday. The test results, however, were available only on Friday night.


All those tested positive for COVID-19 have been sent to isolation wards for treatment, according to Gautam.
