No confidence motion against CM Pokharel to be tabled in provincial assembly today

KATHMANDU, August 11: A no-confidence motion filed earlier against Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Shankar Pokharel is being discussed in the provincial assembly on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, August 11: A no-confidence motion filed earlier against Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Shankar Pokharel is being discussed in the provincial assembly on Wednesday.


A special session of the provincial assembly has been summoned at 1PM today for the same, according to the provincial assembly secretariat.

There are a total of 19 lawmakers of Nepali Congress (NC), 18 of CPN (Maoist Center) including the speaker of the provincial assembly, three of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and one of Rastriya Janamorcha Party in the opposition alliance. Likewise, there are a total of 39 CPN-UML lawmakers in support of Chief Minister Pokharel.


A no-confidence motion was registered against Chief Minister Pokharel in the provincial assembly on August 3 which was filed by the opposition alliance on April 19 and May 9 as well. Chief Minister Pokharel had earlier foiled attempts of the opposition alliance to oust him from power.
