KATHMANDU, Nov 27: Nepal journalists are allowed to capture videos during the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) after Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) made a press release on Tuesday uplifting ban.
“We understand media’s role in making an event and players commercially viable. Hence, we fall back from our previous stance to not allow video recording during the SAG,” stated Jeevan Ram Shrestha, president of NOC in the press release. “We look for enormous help from media fraternity to make the events as successful as possible,” he added.

However, the Nepali media fraternity, specifically television and internet, will be able to telecast only a minute of feed during the reporting and live streaming is prohibited. Last week, the South Asian Olympic Council had sold the broadcast rights to Indian company, NK Media Ventures Pvt Ltd simultaneously impending ban on Nepali media to capture photos or videos during the event. The journalist were later allowed to click photos but ban on video recording lingered on.
Nepal is hosting the 13th edition of the regional sporting event from December 1-10 in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Janakpur.
