KATHMANDU, Nov 2: The electoral process of the second phase polls for federal parliament and provincial assembly is beginning on Thursday, with the Election Commission (EC) calling for nomination of candidates under the First Past the Post (FPTP) electoral system.
The EC has called for nomination of candidates under the FPTP electoral system in the remaining 45 districts that have a total 128 constituencies for the federal parliament and 256 constituencies for provincial assembly. Candidates can file their nomination between 10 am to 5 pm at the offices of the chief election officer or returning officers in their respective constituencies.

Organizing a press conference at his office in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav appealed to all political parties and independent candidates to file their nomination within the given deadline. Yadav expressed confidence that the nomination would be fielded peacefully as in the first phase of election.
The nomination for 37 constituencies of federal parliament and 74 constituencies of provincial assembly of various 32 districts were held earlier for the first phase of polls. The simultaneous federal parliament and provincial assembly polls are scheduled for November 26 and December 7.
Yadav said that the EC has directed the government to make all necessary security arrangement for the polls and asked all chief election officers, returning officers, chief district officers to ensure that the nominations are held in free and fair manner. On the occasion, CEC Yadav also asked both national and international election observers to observe the upcoming elections.
